Kayla Caron, Partner and Principal

KAYLA CARON, AIA has become a partner and principal at Simons Architects in Portland.

Kayla joined SA in 2013, she earned a Master of Architecture from Norwich University in Vermont. She has worked on a variety of projects with a particular focus on master planning, educational, and libraries. Kayla’s commitment to architecture is grounded in public engagement and in projects that positively impact the community. Her commitment to client advocacy and attention to nurturing owner relationships enhances each of her projects.

She has worked on master plans for Tilton School, Lincoln Academy, the Hill School, the University of Southern Maine Performing Arts Center, and 58 Fore Street. She was an integral member of the design teams for the Lisbon High School Gymnasium, the St. John’s School Multi Purpose Facility, and the Waynflete Lower School.

Kayla also has worked on a range of community projects, including renovations of the Bangor Public Library, Falmouth Memorial Library, and conceptual design for the expansion of the Prince Memorial Library and Historical Society in Cumberland. She was the project manager for the renovation of the Burbank Branch of the Portland Public Library and managed two projects for the First Parish Church in Brunswick that increased accessibility for the congregation. She served on the board of Architalx and is a recent graduate of the Institute for Civic Leadership.

Her current projects include the conceptual design for a new community center in Standish, the design for expansions to the Ronald McDonald House in Portland and the Scarborough Public Library.

Kayla’s positive attitude and exceptional attention to detail, design and organizational skills have strengthened her projects and Simons Architects as a whole.
