NYA Learning Commons

We recently renovated the former library located in the classroom building at North Yarmouth Academy to create a Learning Commons that responds to how students learn today. This project involved careful renovation design and engineering to work with the constraints of the existing building. Originally a basketball court before it was a library, large arch-top windows were opened up for a dramatic double height space that acts as a gathering place for students and faculty and opens directly to the larger campus.
The new space has a variety of areas for different types of learning, including casual seating, desks for studying and smaller enclosed rooms for group projects or meetings. We are excited to have had the opportunity to rehab this very special piece of NYA history and look forward to its continued use by students and faculty.
