After a remarkable 31 years, Austin Smith has offi

After a remarkable 31 years, Austin Smith has officially retired from Simons Architects.

It would be easy to highlight one of the many projects Austin helped bring to life: Maine Public’s new Portland Facility, the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden’s Bosarge Family Education Center, the Rising Eddy Community Pool, the Casco Bay Ferry Terminal, the Portland Public Library, or the Freeport Community Center, to name just a few. But the truth is, it’s nearly impossible to separate Austin from any one project because his influence can be found in all of them. He contributed his knowledge, care, and thoughtful perspective to virtually every project that came through our doors.

Austin leaves behind an extraordinary body of work and, more importantly, a lasting impact on the people and the firm he helped shape. We are deeply grateful for all he has contributed to Simons Architects and wish him every happiness in this next chapter.
